This proud accomplishment demonstrates that we are accurately measuring and managing our organisation’s environmental aspects and impacts. We are not just talking the talk. When it comes to sustainability and looking after the environment, Pharmapac is doing everything we can to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment, now and for the future.
What is an Environmental Management System (EMS)?
An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a planned approach to managing environmental impacts. An organisation with an EMS, like Pharmapac, identifies the significant environmental impacts arising from everything they do and then develops plans to prevent or reduce those impacts.
The Toitū enviromark programme mentors organisations to develop, implement and maintain an EMS and verifies their work. The certification programme helps businesses in New Zealand develop, review and improve a custom system to manage environmental aspects and impacts, including legislative and health and safety requirements.
It is a three-tiered environmental management system offering certification at bronze, gold and diamond levels.
Certification from Toitū Envirocare is proof that an organisation is taking action on climate change and taking credible steps toward a more sustainable future.
What does it mean to have the Toitū Enviromark Diamond certification?
To achieve diamond certification, Toitū enviromark diamond certified organisations have a robust, self-sustaining EMS in place. They have internal systems to ensure that their plans and policies are followed and to identify any opportunities for change and improvement. Responsibility comes from the top, with management committing to the EMS and ensuring every individual in the organisation is committed to and adheres to the exacting standards.
Toitū Enviromark Diamond certified organisations even exceed the requirements of ISO 14001, one of the world’s best-known environmental standards.
After many years of dedication to environmental initiatives, Pharmapac is thrilled to again be recognised at this exceptionally high level.
Pharmapac has completed our 2020 Toitū Enviromark Diamond audit, which we are thrilled to have passed without any corrective actions. As per previous years, our focus continues to be on best practices in our manufacturing facility, including in-house recycling, waste to landfill reductions, product innovations and best business practices.
We have invested a lot in these projects over the last three years and are very proud of our achievements.
