Certified Renewable Energy and Water Management

Certified Renewable Energy

Pharmapac’s purchase of Meridian’s Certified Renewable Energy product enables us to report our market-based Scope 2 electricity emissions as zero*.

Meridian Certified Renewable Electricity Generation

What is Certified Renewable Energy?

Certified Renewable Energy (Certified) enables Meridian’s business customers to match the amount of electricity they use on an annual basis, with an equivalent amount of electricity put into the national grid from one of Meridian’s hydro stations or wind farms – which have been independently verified as producing 100% renewable electricity.

Certified is an accredited product that completely changes the carbon reporting and offsetting game for New Zealand businesses. It enables your business to report its market-based Scope 2 emissions – the ones linked to your electricity usage – as zero.*

Choosing Certified is a simple decision that makes a real difference. It shows your customers, employees, partners, stakeholders and communities that you care about the future of Papatūānuku.

*Using the market-based reporting methodology as per the GHG Protocol’s Scope 2 Guidance.

Energy and Water Management.

Pharmapac production is based on responsible, efficient energy use and we carry out modernisation work to increase our energy efficiencies whenever possible.

We have set up our manufacturing plant with leading-edge infrastructure to manage our energy consumption.

We operate with an energy efficient lighting plan throughout our plant/warehouse including the use of movement sensors in the warehouse.

We use a state-of-the-art closed loop water system to promote water usage efficiencies and eliminate water evaporation. We have a rainwater collection tank which collects and stores rainwater from our production facility roof. This water is then used to feed the water cooling system at our manufacturing plant.

We regularly conduct internal plant energy assessments and have conducted an ECCA Energy Audit to review where we can make energy savings in our facilities.
